2017-18 School Year
Each child needs to purchase both School Supplies & Classroom Enrichment Materials for the upcoming 2017-18 school year. This process is handled differently at each campus.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade:
The PTA purchases ALL School Supplies & Classroom Enrichment Materials for K & 1 students, for $120 per child. All you have to do is pay once and be done! Everything will be delivered to their classroom before the first day of school.
2nd-5th Grade:
Two separate payment steps required:
(1) Pay for Classroom Enrichment Materials ($80/child) and
(2) Purchase School Supplies (cost varies by grade).

The PTA uses the $80/child fee to purchase the Classroom Enrichment Materials in bulk for the Main Campus students, while parents are in charge of purchasing School Supplies separately. There are two options for purchasing school supplies: (a) order a pre-packaged, customized supply kit online that will be mailed to your home (DEADLINE May 25th) or (b) shop on your own to purchase the specific items on the supply list.


Each spring there is considerable discussion about the placement of students in next year’s classes. Proper placement of students to ensure academic success is the top priority. The teachers, staff, and administrative team spend hours forming well-balanced classes in which all students have an opportunity to learn and grow both academically and socially.

It is their hope that by providing a detailed explanation of the procedure followed in the formation of classes and the placement of students, parents will have a better understanding of the factors that must go into these decisions. Requests for specific teachers cannot be considered. All requests with specific teacher names will be returned.

We appreciate any input concerning general learning characteristics and environments that will benefit your student. Please complete the following online document to help us better understand your child’s needs. All forms must be submitted by May 21 to be considered:

The Yearbooks Are Coming! The Yearbooks Are Coming!

The 2016-2017 WTJ Yearbooks are arriving this week. If you ordered a yearbook for your Jaguar and it has not come home in his/her backpack by the afternoon of Thursday, April 27, please contact Carrie Sexton at carriesexton@gmail.com.

Didn’t purchase a yearbook and want one? A LIMITED amount of yearbooks are available for purchase at a first come, first serve basis for $55 each. Please contact Carrie Sexton at carriesexton@gmail.com to purchase.

Congrats to all the yearbook cover winners! Five names from each grade were drawn out of a bowl to pick our cover stars this year.


Beginning tomorrow – Monday, April 24, and for the remainder of the week, we ask that each child bring in all the Plastic and Aluminum Trash from home each day. Our goal is to have the students see and realize how much plastic and aluminum trash we accumulate each week in our households. Please be sure to rinse out all trash for sanitation reasons. On Friday, April 28, all the kids will have the opportunity to help create a special Art Project using all the collected trash.

  • IB Exhibition is an exciting time for our 5th grade students! It is the culminating experience of their years as a PYP student and requires collaborative inquiry into identifying, investigating, and offering solutions to real-life issues and problems by taking action. Our 5th graders will begin taking action at the end of April. During this time, some groups will be asking for donations (i.e., food, clothing, toys, pet items, etc.). If your child comes home wanting to donate, please know that their actions are supporting our fifth graders and helping make the world a better place!

ANNUAL FUND – It’s Not Too Late to Join the PTA

Happy 2017! Thank you again to all those who joined the PTA this school year and for your generous contributions. Donor acknowledgement letters for 2016 tax purposes were mailed out to anyone who contributed $250 or more to the Annual Fund. If you do not receive an acknowledgement letter by the end of this week and would like one, please contact us at wtjannualfund@gmail.com.

If you have not yet become a member of the PTA, it is not too late to join. Make your $25 or more contribution to the Annual Fund and join the PTA today! All members of the PTA will receive a bound copy of the school directory, online access to the directory, and a PTA member car decal. Here are two ways for you to join the PTA:

Kids must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Be healthy and be sure to take care of yourself and your child. While we love having the hallways filled with the sounds of chatter and laughter, we do not need parents, children, or teachers in school when they are feeling sick or feverish. Please remember, all should be fever and/or vomit free for 24 hours before returning to school. By taking care of yourself, you are taking care of others.

This year, the PTA has elected to enroll Jackson into the Atlanta Public Schools Online School Payments (OSP) portal. The OSP is provided to facilitate payment for school fees for a variety of products and services—including Field Trips and other pass through expenses. The system is currently offered to a select number of schools, including Jackson and Morris Brandon. We believe this system will be a convenience and benefit to parents, teachers and administrators. Instructions can be found HERE. Welcome Desk (Primary)

The Primary Welcome Desk Committee needs you!  The best way to find out what’s happening on the Primary campus is to work the front desk.  It’s a fun volunteer opportunity and very helpful to the school.  Sign up for two-hour time slots here.  

Jackson Media Center (Main and Primary)The Jackson Media Centers need your help!  Do you like being around the students and being on the move?  This is the volunteer job for you!  Volunteers help check in/out books and shelf returned books while Ms. Maguire and Ms. Webb teach classes.  There are shifts open daily at both campuses.  Give it a try!  Contact Lindsey Champney at lchampney@gmail.com if you have questions.  To sign up for shifts:
